Youth Theatre
Community Youth Theatre providing equal access to creative arts for local young people
Monday 4:30-5:30pm
Weeke Community Centre
What is the Youth Theatre?
We run weekly creative arts and drama workshops for children, aged 7-11 years old. Sessions are offered free of charge to create equal access to the creative arts for all. By providing a creative outlet we help children develop socially and emotionally.
In the past, workshops have included vocals, movement, characterisation and soundscapes. Volunteers are welcome to share their skills as a leader or workshop support. This is a perfect opportunity for those interested in working with young people in an arts context. No previous experience is required, just eagerness to get involved.
How do I get involved?
We are looking for volunteers to help run the sessions on a weekly basis and other volunteers who would be interested in helping Youth Theatre to expand into other areas! We are willing to create a role that works for you.
This project currently runs on Monday evenings 4:30pm - 5:30pm at Weeke Community Centre and is set to begin on the 21st January. So you can sign up now to get involved from the first session or simply get started when you're ready.
If you are interested, fill out the form above, or email Lydia at for more information.
Volunteer with a friend?
Volunteering for Winchester Hub is social and you'll have the chance to meet many like-minded people, but why not ask a friend to sign up with you too?
Volunteering with Youth Theatre is flexible around you!
Winchester Hub is committed to making our activities inclusive to all students. We can make reasonable adjustments to application processes, selection workshops, training sessions, volunteering projects and other activities on a case-by-case basis.
We also provide ongoing support for the students we work with, so if you have particular accessibility needs, including special educational needs, please do get in touch with Lydia at and let us know how we can make the activity more accessible.
This project takes place at Weeke Community Centre - a short bus journey from the centre of town or a 30 minute walk away! Although most weeks volunteers get a group taxi together which is always expensed by us. However, if reasonable adjustments require you take an alternative form of transport, just get in touch and we can cover your costs. We reimburse all Winchester Hub volunteers' travel expenses.
You may also be eligible for funding from the Winchester Employability Fund.
