Pioneer: Social Enterprise Programme
Learn, Engage and Practice everything Social Enterprise!
Weekly Sessions on Wednesdays
On campus and in the City Centre
Learn and Engage with Social Enterprise in Winchester
Our brand new programme offers a fantastic opportunity to build understanding and knowledge of what social enterprise is and how it works. The six week course consists of 1 session per week, based on campus as well as hosting activities in the local community.
No prior experience is necessary to join Pioneer, we are aiming to increase awareness and engagement with social enterprise in the student body.
What does the programme include?
Pioneer's weekly sessions are designed to build confidence and know-how about social enterprise; it starts from the basics of what is a social enterprise, through the business and organisational background, and gives you a chance to visit partners in the community and find out their stories. Examples of training are project management, publicity and comms as well as impact analysis.
The programme includes our amazing Charity Challenge! A one-day event where you will be able to meaningfully contribute resolutions and collaborate on project advice to a local charity or social enterprise who presents a real life issue or problem they are facing.
How long do I have to commit for?
The majority of the sessions will be two hours on a Wednesday, with the Charity Challenge being a longer event. We expect students who successfully join Pioneer to attend at least 5 weeks to gain accreditation for the course. You will have the opportunity to come along to any sessions missed in the following semester.
We aim to be flexible and inclusive
Winchester Hub is committed to making our activities inclusive to all students. We can make reasonable adjustments to application processes, selection workshops, training sessions, volunteering projects and other activities on a case-by-case basis.
We also provide ongoing support for the students we work with, so if you have particular accessibility needs, including special educational needs, please do get in touch with daniel.usher-barrass@winchesterhub.org and let us know how we can make the programme more accessible.
You may also be eligible for funding from the Winchester Employability Fund.
Why not join with a friend?
Volunteering for Winchester Hub is social and you'll have the chance to meet many like-minded people, but why not ask a friend to sign up with you too?
